Today, Democratic Leader Sen. Gloria Butler (D–Stone Mountain) announced that the Senate Democratic Caucus will be holding a press conference on Medicaid expansion. The event is scheduled to take place upon the adjournment of the Senate Committee on Rules on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Room 203, Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta, Georgia.

In a statement, Sen. Gloria Butler highlighted the Democratic Caucus's continuous advocacy for Medicaid expansion, criticizing Georgia's New Pathways to Coverage program for not doing enough to improve the state's Medicaid situation. She emphasized the importance of expanding Medicaid, stating that Georgia loses out on various fronts compared to traditional expansion under the Affordable Care Act. The Senator noted that the Georgia Senate Democratic Caucus has been pushing for Medicaid expansion for over a decade and will stress the urgent need for action in this area.

Sen. Gloria Butler also extended an invitation to the media to attend the press conference, requesting confirmation in advance by contacting Sydney Horwitz at the Senate Press Office (Sydney.Horwitz@senate.ga.gov).

The press release concluded with Sen. Gloria Butler's contact information for further inquiries, stating that she serves as the Senate Minority Leader representing the 55th Senate District covering Gwinnett and DeKalb Counties.

This event aims to shed light on the Democratic Caucus's long-standing advocacy for Medicaid expansion and urge the Majority Party to take action towards improving healthcare coverage in Georgia.
